Well, that actually does make him the Peyton Manning of hockey then.

I am rooting for the Rangers to go far. ... and I am more afraid of Ovechkin in the next round than I am of Tavares or any of the Islanders. Even if I think the Caps are a better match-up for the Rangers than the Islanders are.

I find the "Ovechkin / choker" thing ridiculous. You never NOT know that Ovechkin is on the ice. He's always playing hard, hitting, etc. regardless of whether the puck is going in the net. The crazy thing about this meme is that the puck actually does go in the net a lot in the playoffs as a result of his play.

Quanthockey has him at 31st all time, but 4th among active players (behind Crosby, Malkin and Giroux). About the choker label though, it's not all about NHL playoffs. He's been the centerpiece of the last two Olympic teams too, and those teams flamed out in the quarters both times.

But I don't know how much differently he'd be portrayed if he were Canadian. Thornton gets the choker label hung on him harder than Ovechkin does.

His play was instrumental in the game-winning goal in Game 6.

Ovechkin would have to lose 10 first-round series in sweeps to be in Manning's league.

    I don't think he's a choker -- just a jerk.

I hope I wasn't coming across as calling him a choker, because I don't believe that. Boychuk has been phenomenal defending him. He's going to have to raise his game another level and be better than Boychuk tonight, if that makes sense. I don't think the Caps win without him having some role in the goal scoring.

He had a role in the scoring in Game 6 -- for both sides.

Why the hell are they waiting so long to announce the second-round schedules?? The West first round is done. Let's get it going.

He's been pretty sound defensively, save for that gaffe. You haven't been able to say that in past years. Eric Fehr is back tonight for Washington, and it sounds like Glencross will be in for Latta. Guessing Burakovsky will be scratched as well. Fehr's a total glue guy for them.

My understanding is television is holding things up (surprise) to arrange the weekend schedule and that is complicated by potential arena scheduling conflicts.

Game 7 of Bucks-Bulls (if necessary) is scheduled for Saturday at United Center. That date will likely open up after tonight.
