I'm pretty serious about that. It should definitely be a crime.

Not killing people while taking them into custody might a good start.

Or, I think it's high time we ended the drug war. End the financial incentive to be selling on the corner.

Cops should strive to be out making connections in neighborhoods instead of actling like a bad-ass with everyone they meet so they actually get to know the people and might learn something.

You want to decriminalize drugs? It's one thing to decriminalize marijuana, but the government is not going to get into the business of selling harder drugs. In a place like Baltimore, do you really think giving drug dealers a pass will help the community?

Parroting the idea that the war on drugs is bad is one thing, but think about the consequences of what you're suggesting.

Honestly, I don't the law really needs to change (save for legalizing pot).

Selective enforcement and race-based "guilty until proven innocent" mindsets need to change.

    Most cops do exactly that.

No. They should sit at their desks and re-write press releases. Get a lot more bylines that way. Helps newspapers flourish. Or at least might get the Metric Nazis off your back.

That would be a positive step in cop-community relations and potentially prevent the occasional riot, but it doesn't address the larger issues at hand.
