I'd guess pretty high given the number of charges and the number of cops charged. Now convicted of what will be more interesting.

Y'all understand that jury pool will be drawn from Baltimore City barring some crazy change of venue, correct? Everyone in Baltimore knows someone, or is related to someone, who has been harassed or beaten by the BCPD.

If you beat the shit out of citizens for a quarter century, then suddenly have to sit in judgement of 12 of them, good luck. Better pray this one is getting moved to Howard County.

Everyone in Baltimore? Really? Every single person?

Right after we end the war on poverty and end the financial incentive to sit on your couch while collecting a check from the government.

The driver is the one charged with second-degree murder. He is going to be able to say plausibly -- perhaps even truthfully -- that he didn't know the guy wasn't strapped in.

The officer who began the chase is the key to the case. He's the one who almost lost his job because of his mental health three years ago, when he was hospitalized after saying he "could not continue to go on like this." He's charged with involuntary manslaughter just like the rest.

And of course there's this from the union boss: "As tragic as this situation is, none of the officers involved are responsible for the death of Mr. Gray."

I don't think anyone is getting convicted for the death. Maybe for assault or some other corollary charge.

If the Serial podcast was correct, DD's point that everyone knows someone or is related to someone who has had an incident with the police is accurate.

That was one of the staggering things that I learned about Baltimore.

Every single person in Baltimore is related or knows someone who has been harassed or beaten up by a police officer. Every single one.

So someone has talked to every single Baltimore resident to ask them that?

You're being a little pedantic on this.

If it isn't every single one -- which I think it is -- but even if it isn't, the percentage is well above 90 percent.

LTL already stole my thunder a bit, but...

Yes, the Police Union has put out an "Open Letter" to the prosecutor.

Did they just remind everyone that these are just charges at this point, that the officers are presumed innocent, and ask people to withhold final judgement until all the facts are presented in a fair and impartial trial?

    Oh, no.

They not only came right out and said the officers are not responsible for Gray's death, but also said they acted "diligently"

I'm sure our our fans of public sector unions will stand with the police officers and their union.

"Based on several nationally televised interviews, these reporters are likely to be witnesses in any potential litigation regarding this incident."

Da fuq? Is that some kind of threat or something?
