Have they even given him a mic yet? I don't think so and given how his promos in NXT went, I doubt they will anytime soon. Call it the curse of the Ascension if you will.
I imagine the belt will either go to Barrett or Sheamus though, honestly, it would be a great idea to give it to Kofi just to turn the heat on New Day up even more.

I've touched on New Day in my last post, but wanted to add more.

It's been a great turnaround for the group, not only have they salvaged these three guys from being another failed project in the tag division, but they've actually managed to turn Cesaro and Kidd babyface in the process; everyone seems to have accepted this double turn and are really looking forward to the next chapter in their feud. It's cool that they've finally found something for Big E to do that shows off his charisma.

It reminds me of when they gave up with Bo Dallas as a bland babyface with no depth on NXT and decided to ramp up the obnoxious levels and have him be the delusional heel that thinks everyone loves him.

    Thoughts on New Day?

I love it. I just wish they had done this from the start. These guys are all great individually and what they lack as singles wrestlers, they more than make up for in the group dynamic.
I especially love the over-the-top celebrations and general positivity that's truly grating. It's like the WWE saw the reaction Cena got, ramped it up to 10 and dared fans to boo.
It's been pretty strong thus far.

"Hey, how can we make it seems like we're giving the Divas division a chance, but also shoot ourselves in the foot too?"

"I know! Let's take Paige off TV - because she's the most over - while inexplicably booking a heel-heel title program. Eventually though, the person turning face will be the person who's been our Queen Bitch for months, and who's sister helped her cheat to win the title at the PPV."

"That sounds great! But I think we can do better."

"Hm, what if we also return to action the mute, Female Diesel that nobody liked that first time around? I mean, we could bring Charlotte up to the main roster to serve the same purpos-"

    "FUCK NO! Are you insane???"

World title picture is a little too enslaved to the Authority drama. As long as it doesn't lead to a Kane/Rollins title match at the next show ...

I still can't see Reigns or Ambrose as world champ. I like the potential both have, but they're both got to tweak some stuff. Ambrose has got to get rid of that rope spot, and I can't take Reigns seriously with his He-Man chest protector. Seriously, story logic should dictate he dump it because everyone would pick up on using it to throw him around, as Kane did during their segment.

But who else is there to present as a legitimate challenger? We don't need a Cena title run. His US challenge is awesome. He's in the place he needs to be. Hi status is elevating a useless title and he's amking young guys look like a million bucks. Bray? He's not a character that ever needs a title, nor does it seem like his character is all that worried about titles. He just wants to fuck with people for hos own amusement. Orton has to move on eventually. Ziggler? I'll keep dreaming. Bryan is on the shelf again. He'll never come near a title again even if he comes back to active status. (And I'd rather he retire and take some on-air role if it means hislong-term health.) Sheamus? No. He's a great mid-card heel. Barrett? Gotta turn him face, and too late into the start of a great heel run. Neville? Too soon. Split up Cesaro and Kid? No way. They've got more to offer as a team for a while. Ryback? Ugh. Harper? See Bray. Rusev? Personally, I can't see a face turn working. Sami? Too soon.

So, The E soldiers through to late July as best it can until face Lesnar somehow comes back to seek his pound of flesh from Rollins at SummerSlam in NYC.

Eventually, heel Rollins runs out of steam, as does face Ambrose and face Reigns, and The E re-forms The Shield for fangirls and merch sales.

Seriously, here's my fear: Reigns wins MitB. At SS, when it's the Lesnar-Rollins rematch, Reigns comes in late to cash in and pins Rollins while Lesnar is out. New champ, and it keeps Lesnar on a long-term plan to win it back in Dalls next April. Or not.

I think either Rollins will roll through this crop of guys until Lesnar shows up, or if heel Rollins starts running out of steam he'll get the boot from the Authority and they'll replace him with Reigns. Maybe Ambrose but it seems like Roman would have a better shot of pulling off the corporate Rock thing. If they're following the Rock's arc it's the move, but it seems like its too soon to turn Rollins so I think they play out the string until Summerslam and Lesnar. Depending on what happens at Elimination Chamber that's what, two more PPVs:

They can almost get away with a crappy title match at MITB because of the ladder match, maybe it's Orton again, and then the July main event could be Rollins-Ambrose?

FWIW, there's a house show coming to my town in June and the advertised main event is Rollins-Orton.
Rusev-Cena is also on the card, so they might be keeping with these feuds through MITB.

My unlikely theory is that the over-the-top goody-six-shoes gospel-light New Day was intended to suck all along and make the fans hate them, so they could feed off of that as part of an organic heel turn. But I also thought maybe that was the point of early Honky Tonk Man being a suck-up to the fans in his first weeks, then being told by Jesse Ventura that a poll said that everyone hated him, which sent him into the delusional heel that we all knew and ... knew.

"They don't like your greaseball hair, take a hike back to Podunk, Tennessee!" That was awesome, remember it like it was yesterday.

There's a match on YouTube of early face Honky in Toronto against Mr. X. (Danny Davis in a mask). Honky gets booed out of the building and even Gorilla and Johnny Valiant admit that the fans aren't cheering him.

Saw a lot of cards at Maple Leaf Gardens back in the day when Jack Tunney was the promoter here. Crowds were always great.
