Jenner could get two Academy Awards, too: Best Actor and Best Actress.

They recently played a Loveline clip from 1998 where Carolla said Jenner looks like he's turning into a woman.

I've seen this one and several similar memes - "This is what true courage looks like" accompanied by a photo of a wounded soldier - and it seems to me that the folks posting them are using a wounded veteran to shield themselves from being labeled bigots. If you dare take issue with their post, you are labeled "unpatriotic," "anti-soldier" or "anti-American." It allows the poster to take issue with Jenner transitioning to a woman without their true feelings and motivations being scrutinized. It shapes the argument into a debate about the level of courage of the American Hero vs. the Celebrity Weirdo, instead of the socially unacceptable debate of why the poster finds Jenner repugnant.

The courage of a wounded soldier or a police officer or a firefighter is not mutually exclusive from the courage of a transgendered individual such as Jenner going public and risking the inevitable intolerance that will follow. The courage of one does not detract from the courage of the other.

There are lots of examples of courage. I wish I had the courage to try stand up comedy. I already have years of dealing with hecklers from my own family.

What Jenner is doing is without a doubt courageous. I agree with bigpern that comparing Jenner to soldiers in that way is trying to belittle and disparage this type of bravery.

And there is no law barring anyone else from giving an award to someone else. I'd figure by now there would be a few groups announcing awards for Lauren Hill or Noah Galloway due to the outcry.

Well, Leah Still is getting the Jimmy V award. We'll see if anyone notices with Caitlyn mania going on.

The ESPY's a big night in the RJ household?

You should hear the stories from the early 2000s. That time he and Favre brought the stripper into the green room ...

Two points after further reflection on the ESPYs, the award show that's SUCH a big goddamned deal that they used to be tape-delayed by four days (taped on the Wednesday night after the MLB All-Star game, shown the following Sunday night).

    1. I wonder if it will be awkward at all backstage because the host is Joel McHale, who on The Soup used to regularly make fun of Jenner for his collection of plastic surgeries.

    2. It strikes me as a bit disingenuous that the people who blast Jenner as a reality-TV-whore conveniently overlook Noah Galloway's appearance on Dancing With the Stars.

I think the Galloway meme is stupid.

But his reality show dalliance isn't in the same ZIP code as Jenner's.
