This is something I've actually been wondering about. Caitlyn's coming out is obviously important for the movement, but it can't be representative of the average experience of a trans man or woman. I would imagine the courage it takes for an average trans woman to come out to her family, friends and co-workers is tenfold that of Caitlyn's.

IS Oscar Robertson still the greatest player in the history of the Sacramento Kings?

From a friend's Facebook feed ... sorry for the political spin if it bugs you, but I thought this was pretty funny ...

I suspect that the bulk of that pressure comes from the trans woman herself. In my reading about the trans phenomenon, one of the things I've come across is this finding that often the men who identify as women don't see women the way women see women. Instead, they see women -- they idealize women -- in ways that are typically "masculine." Thus they fixate on becoming a woman, but they become only that caricature of a woman that a man would hold. This is from the former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins:

Whatever happened to that thing about Jenner's SUV running into a woman's Altima on PCH this winter, sending the woman's car into oncoming traffic, and killing her?

Let's be real, there are people that aren't cool with the Jenner hype so they gin up arguments to make him look bad but that also won't make them seem transphobic.
At some point I figure it will settle down and Jenner will either assume the role of professional trans advocate or fade back to Tori Spelling-like relevance.

No wonder Jenner is putting off the operation. She's going to get her nuts sued off.

I'm ok to the transgender issue, I object to the public relations, carnival atmosphere she's created. She's an attention whore. That get my ire.

I question the actual attention whore is in this case. Is it Jenner or the bat-shit crazy family he married into?
