I realize that the interest level in the NHL Draft isn't as high as that of the NBA, but would it have killed someone at AP to so much as write a brief about a first-round pick. Got bupkis on the Wings, who have something of a following, and I had to dig in exchange to find the list of picks, one of which listed a player's WHL club as "Brandon Wheat".

Not sure if you get the features wire, but that is where I found an 8-inch story about the Wings pick. Freep or News wrote it. I just combined it into the AP copy.

What on earth was it doing in the Features wire?

Guessing he meant whatever wire shows the MCT or NYT stuff. We get that stuff, so it comes in handy when AP drops the ball.

Yeah, anything that is not AP wire gets routed to a "sports features" folder on our server. We used Freep again instead of AP for Sunday because they did jack shit on 2nd day picks.

Really nice of Fryer to switch the topic of the Daytona story to Dale Jr. without notice. But it's DALE JR.!!!! Was looking for something on Gordon, as described on the Digest. The autos coverage has been crappy this week, one of the two when we truly care about it.

I went with the NBC story and ran Dale as a brief at the end.

Hopefully no one on the east coast was waiting on deadline for the Coke Zero 400 results...

Champions Tour scores moved at 7:44. Still no sign of a short story at 9:35. Just wrote a few sentences of the Tour website, but still. And no, there is no such person as Michelle Pressel on the LPGA Tour.

Thought the same thing, but alas, I remembered Morgan playing well yesterday and went to the par scores. We all fuck up ... I mostly just threw that in to alert whoever saw it here that might be running it.
