With gay marriage decided, what will be the next big left-led social change?

At least if he wears the thing, it would be an improvement. (I'm making an assumption regarding your hat, but really, it can't be much worse than his hair, can it?)

I've got some pretty tired hats ... Still, it stretches credulity to think the worst of them might be as bad as his hair.

The law of large numbers is not subject to spin.

I am going to step away from any/all political directions we've taken (which have been amusing) and get back to the basic idea put forth at the beginning of this thread: What's the next big social change that the left will lead?

I'm defining a social change as some relatively fundamental shift in the way our common culture works. And while such a shift can result from governmental action, I'd like to narrow my attention to shifts that occur without such. I know Baron has a hard time getting his head around such an idea, but very important (and beneficial) things can happen without, even in spite of, government.

I think the next big social change that the left should (and perhaps will) lead is the recreation of a culture in which children are raised predominantly, even overwhelmingly, in two-parent households. The left is uniquely positioned to do this because: 1) it played a pretty big role in creating the culture vis-a-vis marriage/child-rearing we have, and this is a chance to clean up a mess it made; 2) it can lead this recreation without falling victim to "SEXIST! BIGOT! HOMOPHOBE!" criticisms; and 3) the beneficiaries of this recreation will overwhelmingly be those souls the left claims to care the most for -- the poorest, most marginalized among us.

Yep, he sponsored a bill to create the food stamp program. And he got out of the Senate by losing his election.

Other than that, though, he was quite the conservative.

If he wasn't embarrassed by it, wouldn't he have defended himself on it instead of apologizing?

What he really meant was what he said. That some Mexicans are rapists and drug dealers and are sneaking into America to rape and sell drugs.

Really. How can you spin that any other way?

It's certainly true. Would also be true to say some Mexicans like butterflies and jellybeans. Might not give the negative connotation Trump was looking to pass on.

I like this idea and think it's an admirable ambition.

Hillary also has a great start in getting it going in 2016 now that gay couples can legally wed in all 50 states and raise kids in a two-parent household.
