I guess Everett Dirksen doesn't count.

YF, if you're going to attack the party you don't like, at least own it. Your posts on this thread and many others have absolutely been an attack on Democrats.

Haven't you been arguing against the "party switchy-changy thing?" It is hypocritical to criticize the idea, then apply it.

Nope, he was a moderate. Supported some liberal things, such as cilia rights legislation. Also was a supporter of McCarthy and the Vietnam War.

Also was a known flip-flopper, which Republicans have insisted is bad.

Microscopic hairs that protrude from cells in order to keep air passages clean are a conservative value.

    Try again.

Conservatives are against auto spellchecks. They believe everyone who can't spell is on their own.

Cilia rights legislation is nothing to sneeze at.

Nice try Baron. This is almost as good as pretending that the racist Southern Democrats of the past should be properly associated with today's Republican party.

You ask, "how many pieces of civil rights and equality legislation have been introduced by conservatives?"

I put forward a name, and you present his support of civil rights legislation as proof that he wasn't a conservative.

    Brilliant Baron. Well done.

Dirksen also supported many New Deal programs, something that conservatives hated.

    Plus, from wikipedia:

"Dirksen's penchant for changing his mind during his days as a congressman was noted by the Chicago Sun-Times,which once noted that he had changed his mind 62 times on foreign policy matters, 31 times on military affairs, and 70 times on agricultural policies.[3]

    A flip-flopping moderate. Not a conservative.

Oh, and the racist Southern Democrats that you cite? Conservatives.

Like I said, read my initial post. I've said "The Right" and "Conservatives". Not to mention, but look at how Southern states have gone in presidential elections since the 1960s. They used to be Democratic. Now, most of them are Republican. Coincidence?

Carter being from Georgia had nothing to do with that map. No siree.

Here's one that's had an election with a winner that you know and love:
