I hate this story. I really do. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry who comes to my house now starts smarmily lecturing me that, "You know that all of your 'craft whiskey' is actually made in Indiana, don't you?"

    Um, no. Mine is not.

Among those I would consider "craft," i.e. you can't just walk into Walgreen's or Target and pick it up:

    Willett (Kentucky)
    McCarthy's (Oregon)
    William Heavenhill (Kentucky)
    Michter's (unknown origin)
    FEW (Illinois)
    Journeyman (Michigan)
    Whistlepig (Canada, via Vermont)
    Indiana Corn Whiskey (Indiana)
    Elijah Craig 12-Year (Kentucky)
    Angel's Envy (Kentucky)

How many of those are Ryes though?

Do Journeyman or FEW make a rye?

And because of the time necessary to age a good whiskey, I'm generally a little leery of new distillers. Yeah, if they use a smaller barrel, it doesn't need as much time, but I worry that they rush the process.

And, the Indiana ryes are all pretty good.

Whistlepig is a rye - 10-year. It was actually first distilled at a contract distillery as a flavoring whiskey for Crown Royal, I believe, among others.

    McCarthy's is a single malt.

Journeyman makes bourbon, but I have their rye and their "Silver Cross" whiskey.

    Remember, though: Not a hobby.

    Should probably be illegal.

That would be a "liberal" position, right, since it's trying to change the status quo?

I ride a bike in one of those awful awful bicycling wardrobes, I occasionally go for a run and I shop often at Target/Whole Foods/Trader Joe's ... Crap, I must be the worst person alive. I'll drink almost any beer handed to me (there's only one thing better than a cold beer, and that's a free cold beer) I don't drink wine at all, does that help?

I beg to differ. Free pussy outranks free beer.

Had some Ardbeg tonight. Had to, after watching The Open. I wanted some at 4 this morning.
