He was being studied by a world class university. They could've used Feline #o643H5.

Perhaps "Cecil" was, I dunno, easier ?

If you would like to provide evidence that the dentist is neither entitled nor an ass, I wam willing to amend my remarks and seek help for my psychosis.

Oh, and you calling millions of people assholes instead of just one felon and sexual harasser is not the least bit psychotic, T.

I bet the other lions made fun of him for that name.
"Hey, Ceeecil, what kind of name is that?"
"Ooo, better watch out, Cecil's getting mad."
"You call yourself the king of the jungle? Please, Cecil."

I don't like trophy hunting like this for lots of reasons, but another aspect that bothers me is that only the hide and head are generally taken, and the rest wasted.

That said, I guess Cecilburgers wouldn't sell well in Kenya at the moment.

Things that I know about him:

    1. He has prior felony criminal conviction for poaching activities, that included being caught lying to federal officials about where he illegally killed a bear.

    2. He had to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit by paying off an employee who accused him of extensive sexual harassment.

    3. He took part in luring a tagged and collared lion outside of its protected park home by dragging bait behind a vehicle so that he could blast it the moment it crossed park boundaries. After killing said lion, his party be-headed it, skinned it, left the carcass to rot, and then attempted to destroy the collar and GPS tracking device to avoid being caught by authorities.

    4. His hobby is paying exorbitant amounts to shoot exotic animals for trophies (including over 50 grand paid for the honor of shooting Cecil). He apparently does not use the meat from his kills to feed anyone, but instead takes the heads for trophies and leaves the carcasses to rot.

Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I feel comfortable calling him an entitled asshole...

Fair or not, to much of the world, if you could define a country by a single person, the dentist is America.

I find it odd that people are upset that people are upset about this.

This thread is about Cecil. Start a good discussion that strikes a chord (and manages not to get locked) with regard to all the other issues going on, and maybe we'll have at those things, too.

The argument that people are caring more about this lion than black people's lives, or any other issues, is ridiculous. People have been and are plenty upset about black lives lost. What? Haven't you read, watched or listened to news in recent months, or perhaps even seen or felt the impact of the issue lately?

But this thread is about Cecil and his despicable killer, and the issue is big-game hunting, not race relations. If you're really not interested, then don't post or lurk on the thread. Otherwise, just admit that you're as appalled at the details of this story and just as interested in it as others. There'd be nothing wrong with that.

Is it really any different than people thinking their favorite athlete is infalliable because he plays for THEIR team? Think any Yankees fans would be defending A-Rod if he were a Red Sox? Think any Steelers fans are screaming "Ben didn't do nuttin!!!!" if he's a Cleveland Brown?

I suspect much of the world looks at the U.S. in the same way that much of America looks at Texas.

Chin up, ot. Palmer just got this 5-star review:

    • 7/30/2015 I had a toothache and decided to visit Dr. Palmer. He informed me that my tooth needed to be extracted and imagine my shock and surprise when I saw him taking out his scope and crossbow. Fortunately he was distracted by a receptionist and turned his attention to her, making sexualized verbal comments and physically groping her breasts, buttocks, and genitalia. I took this opportunity to run away.
