NFL offseason thread

One NFL game has been played this preaseason and it was mentioned in three posts, none of which included discussion of third-string guards. There was a third-string quarterback, but he played the entire game, so that made some sense.

Two posts focused on rookies and starters. The third focused on a defending division champion potentially losing one of the league's top kickers to a senseless injury.

It really would be lovely if people actually focused on bringing up the topics they would like to discuss rather than whining about the ones that do not interest them.

    I am not complaining, OOP.
I was having a discussion without your intermediacy, thank you.
Have been out to sea many months and I come back to the football thread and a lot of my people are gone.
Then see posts about the Steelers' glorified scrimmage at Fawcett Stadium and stop wondering why.

All I know about Mick Tingelhoff is his famous NFL Films story about Dick Butkus spitting on his hands at the line of scrimmage.

You were complaining in your first post and you are complaining in this post. And please understand this is not personal. You are far from the only poster guilty of this particular form of bogging down the running threads.

Please focus on what you want to discuss rather than whining about what you don't want to read. Thank you.

Or you could ignore him and let others decide what THEY would like to discuss.

Actually, I would like that consideration for myself. If others do not wish to pick up on the points I make, that is fine, but I would prefer they simply move along rather than complain about the subject.

It's like carrying a rickshaw and having constantly to maneuver around a pile of crap.
"Is what I'm posting interesting to the group" - that question should be paramount.

Pardon me for interrupting this levity with actual news related to the NFL, but the Steelers did lose kicker Shaun Suisham for the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament and cartilage damage in his left knee. Apparently, they are looking at Billy Cundiff, Shayne Graham and Jay Feely.

Suisham made 29 of 32 field goals last season and 59 of 64 over the past two years. This is a team that racks up yards, but battles inconsistency in the red zone, so trouble at kicker becomes even more significant. Suisham injured the knee making a tackle on the second-half kickoff last night. Just a senseless way to lose a big part of the team.

Yes, I'm sure that will be a fatal blow, happening so close to the start of the season and with no potential replacements at such a critical position.

Pencil in the Steelers for the No. 1 draft pick.

Nobody said fatal blow. It is a significant loss, turning a strength into a weakness.
