I don't get the talk about Mayweather vs. Rousey or Conor McGregor any other MMA fighter. I guess the prevailing sentiment is that fighting is fighting, but it's not. They're two totally different sports and the only correct answer as to who would beat who is "In which sport?"
But I understand the whole point is that Rousey and the UFC are just trying to generate attention for her and the UFC and it's about that and nothing else.
So maybe I do get it.

If Zuffa didn't buy Strikeforce Scott Coker probably would'be made this fight at 140 catchweight two years ago.

Yeah, it is just headline grabbing, and it is also something Mayweather can't really respond to. What is he supposed to say? "Nope, I would beat that chick's ass." That probably would not go over well, especially from him. Also, there is no possibility of that fight ever happening, so there really is no danger in putting that out there.

    ABQ in da house!

This is huge news in Albuquerque...probably because it doesn't involve the Mayor or ineptitude of the police for a change.

It's different, but not totally different. You may have missed it, but James Toney tried to fight in the UFC. Not much was made of it because he was past his prime as was the guy he fought. The UFC before it goes to the ground is boxing.

That's just completely untrue. The stand-up game in MMA is far more varied than boxing. It is probably closer to something like muay thai because kicks, elbows and knees are allowed. The clinch is also a significant part of MMA. Where in boxing the fighters would be split up, in MMA they stay clinched and continue to throw strikes and attempt takedowns.

And that James Toney "fight" was a joke the second it was signed. Anyone who had watched MMA knew what was going to happen - he was going to get taken down and beaten up. I don't even think Toney threw a punch.

    I was at that fight.
The guy he was fighting was also past his prime. And Couture admitted if it were boxing, Toney would have knocked him out in the first round.
