    Rapists aren't bad?

    They are misunderstood.
    Apparently it's a thing.

We just need the Jean Valjean of rapists to come forward so we can rethink the whole thing.

    Why can't they just Tinder?

Probably just didn't grow up in the right time. Technology has passed them by. They didn't learn it and are now outdated. Too busy trying to find loaves of bread to feed their kids.

You assume that rape is always a crime that's committed with a lot of planning and forethought. Just like killing, I think it's probably often committed in the heat of the moment. The rapists aren't thinking a lot about what comes next.

I have a friend who was raped, and two days later the guy shot himself. His suicide note said simply, "I can't do this anymore."

This certainly accounts for a lot of it, I think, particularly when alcohol is in the mix, as it usually is.

And that is also why the Rolling Stone article never rang true from the beginning - it doesn't seem that this is usually a pre-meditated crime, and certainly not on that level.

Just trying to understand you correctly, your friend who was raped shot themselves? Or was it the rapist who shot himself?

Sorry I didn't write that particularly clearly.

    The rapist shot himself.

He had done it before. He had an impulse problem. My point to Dick was that there was no planning involved.
