Just came back to post about Nelson. The Steelers' preseason broadcast crew mentioned it. Ouch.

Sure Steelers and Packers just wish they could have skipped this one:

Tomlin just said Pouncey will need surgery on his ankle. He didn't have a prognosis as to when Pouncey might be able to return.

Eh, they don't need Pouncey to get to the Super Bowl.

This is why I disagreed with the decision to extend Pouncey. Sure, he's great when he plays, but he has far too much trouble staying healthy. Counting on him to be in the lineup is a mistake.

Edit: Saw one report with Pouncey missing half the season with a fractured ankle. Tuitt's injury looks like a sprained ankle.

Sources: The #Texans have named Brian Hoyer as their starting QB to begin the 2015 season.

    Is Mallett that bad?

Jay Gruden is going to keep trotting RG3 out there until he's either dead or until it's 100000% crystal clear that he can't play. Whichever comes first. He's digging his own grave at the same time, but I don't really disagree with his methods here for various reasons. You don't need sources or anonymous NFL coaches to see that.

Wait, did you just use "journeyman" correctly?

If that was indeed your intention, THANK YOU!

Hoyer has proven he can play well when surrounded with plenty of weapons. When he had Cameron and Gordon playing, he was better than Mallet has ever been. The problem, of course, is that without Foster, the Texans are low on playmakers. Hopkins will be the focus of every defense until the Texans prove they can run. If they can't, it will get ugly for Hoyer like it did late last season in Cleveland.

He should switch to lawn darts. The throwing trajectory would be a better fit.

Mallet is Jay Cutler with a bigger arm and a smaller brain.
