    I look forward to reading that.

    I can't help but feel like the incidents are starting to feed off of one another. Media members seem to consistently deny that, but I think that's as self-serving as gun rights advocates tripping over their dicks in the dash to announce with a bullhorn every time someone is stabbed to death.

    I'm going to limit my trips to Honduras, as well.

    The banana trade must be brutal.

    You guys crack me up.

    Sure, we can't regulate speech, but we'll strictly control ink and paper!

    Sure, we can't regulate abortion, but we'll strictly the medical devices necessary for the procedure!

    Anyone think either of those measures would be constitutional?

    If limits can be placed on how much Sudafed one can buy, limits can be placed on how much ammunition one can buy.

    Which Constitutional amendment protects your right to buy Sudafed?

    Sure the ammunition would be. People can make their own bullets. Who is stopping them?

    The Pharma lobby may be as powerful as the NRA. That trumps the Constitution.

    Now, to steal a page out of the YF posting book, I don't think that the 3.59/100,000 is representative of the homicides that we really care about. What's the rate among the Alison Parkers and Adam Wards of the world? Probably closer to the other rates for westernized nations, though I'd guess slightly higher because of the number of these scary-as-hell mass murders. We mostly don't get too up in arms when JoJo Jefferson shoots Marcus Washington.

    We really have two gun homicide rates:
    • The rate of mostly white people but, more importantly, middle-class people who get killed in rampages and domestic incidents;
    • The rate of poor, mostly black and Hispanic, mostly male, and largely teen-aged people killing each other in our pockets of grinding poverty.
