    Stop distracting from the point. It's not about liberalism or conservatism. It's about not allowing religion to influence our laws.

    Not allowing religion to influence laws is a liberal idea. It goes back to the Enlightenment, when the idea that rulers didn't have a divine right to rule took shape.

    So at least you recognize that liberalism was part of our Founding Fathers' thought process and not just something that's arisen in the past 20 years to oppress those that fight for living under the rules when this country was founded?

    The Founding Fathers were the liberals back then, although some of their thinking (slavery OK, Native Americans are bad, women are second-class citizens) would be considered radically conservative today.
