Texas is like this. I was pretty shocked the first time I went into the ballot box and saw this.

    Shouldn't be allowed.

Tell me how you would describe your interpretation of Patrick Kane's accuser.

Then maybe the 28th Amendment should be a banning of all marriages. Problem solved.

You and I have the right to pick our noses and scratch our asses. That isn't spelled out in the Constitution either.

If I lived in Rowan County and was getting paid $80,000 a year plus sweet benefits to be a county clerk, I'd run to the nearest gay bar and throw marriage licenses around like confetti.

Correct. Not the same. We even get to vote for people running for jobs that don't even exist anymore.

    LOL. Good point.

Davis is 49-years-old. She worked in the Clerk's office for 26 years before being elected to the top post, replacing her mom who held the job for 37 years.

So, she's had a job there since she was 23, and was employed by her mom, and has now hired her son.

I have no idea if she has a college degree, it's not mentioned in any of the articles, but does anyone think this woman's value in the local job market approaches anything close to $80,000 per year, plus all the usual government benefits -- including a likely pension?

Does anyone think that you couldn't find someone to do her job for $30,000?

It's a joke on the local population that this is an $80,000 job.

This is the point I was trying to make.

Yeah but you're overlooking the fact that she can spend more money and thereby expand the economy. Given a reasonable estimate of the Keynesian multiplier, the good citizens of her area are at least 10% wealthier than they'd otherwise be thanks to their overpaying her.

Reverse it. Does anyone think Kim Davis is qualified for even a $30,000 per year job? She looks like half the Wal-Mart checkers I've ever come across.
Let's call this for what it is: a blatant publicity ploy. She's getting her 15 minutes, she'll be greeted at the Church of Pentacostal Fat Asses like a conquering heroine when she gets out, will do the round of talk shows, write a book no one will read and slink away, hopefully, to begin the search for husband No. 5.

You think salary should be based on looks?
