It would be a "great thing" to deny gay people equal rights under the law?

    Correct.

But idiots, including idiots running for President (though most of them vague it up enough to tread that particular needle), are arguing that she's not breaking the law.

Yeah, you can vote for each office separately, but I don't think it should be an option to vote straight party line by checking one box.

I'm not so sure. Even if she get's a couple of hundred grand, that's not better than $80,000 every year, plus benefits, and what it does for her eventual pension benefits to remain employed.

Is that not an option in Illinois? It is in Indiana.

I've seen that on a whole bunch of Facebook posts that support her. Usually followed by "Only Congress can make the law!"

It doesn't occur to them that the Supremes based their ruling on the Constitution, which is supposed to be the basis of Congress' laws.

    She'll get more than that.

She's certainly going to write a book. Then she'll do the right-wing speaking circuit.

Followed by the inevitable gig on Fox News. She can be the token Democrat that they trot out to claim that they're "fair and balanced".

I don't think her support is as wide or deep as you do.

Her support isn't party wide, or even from all conservatives. It's limited to a subset of evangelical Christians, and those pandering to that audience.

I'm not sure she's dynamic enough to sell a book, or make any money on the speaking circuit. I'm also not sure her fame is going to last more than 15 minutes.

Plus, her status as a martyr isn't going to be so great unless she sits in prison for a long time. Is she going to do that?

In the end, it's only fitting that she got hauled to jail by U.S. Marshals for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She looks like Mags Bennett and has the brains of Dewey Crowe.
