I don't think that Kim Davis is racist or a bigot in any way. I think she sincerely believes that homosexuality is a sin and same sex marriage is proscribed by the Bible and, more importantly, the Bible as interpreted by people she trusts. Namely her church leadership.

Davis took the day off, so I guess the throngs of media get to just hang out today:

The commotion here irked a longtime resident of Rowan County when he came into Ms. Davis’s office to update his disabled parking permit.

“Good God almighty,” DeWayne Barnett said when he walked into the office. “Why don’t you all cover something worthwhile?”

    bigot
    noun big·ot \ˈbi-gət\
: a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

Does it matter that she sincerely believes homosexuality is a sin? Doesn't she fit the definition of bigot in that she refuses to accept members of a particular group? Having a reason for being a bigot still makes one a bigot.

Imagine the media play of that if McCain or Palin had said it.

That thread would be up to 50,000 pages on this site and still active.

You and I have different definitions of "bigot."

Edit: Pern beat me to it.

I'm still amazed at the number of people who put a group of people into an oppressed class when they're in that group based on their behavior rather than their race or gender.

    So what?

You believe that Obama thinks there are 57 states.

    It's preposterous.

    And you believe it.

He believes so many stupid, stupid things. Should we really care any more?

If I refused to, say, sell a gun to a convicted felon, am I a bigot?
