I thought about the plagiarism too. A lot of us did... but as far as I'm concerned this is a completely different story. I don't know what happened between the two, and I'm not sure I want to know. Right now, I just hope she recovers and goes on to have a normal life.

Holy shit, I never thought of that angle. Hope there's another explanation to the whole thing, but that makes a ton of sense.

Agree with this completely. You can criticize her actions with the plagiarism, and still sympathize and hope for the best for her and her recovery.

The booze makes no sense. Aren't open containers a misdemeanor?

Drugs: Were they really going to pat him down? Only if he were super high. And even then, if they didn't find anything they still could've found a way to take him into custody.

Feel like a dick for pointing this out, but saw a reference on the comments on the original accident story about the husband. Looks like he has a, um, checkered sort of past in Florida, with lots of mugshots online. And they look an awful lot like the same guy who is with Natalie on his Facebook page, and just moved to Alabama and got married in May.

Of course, it could mean nothing. But it could mean bizarre behavior after the accident means a lot more than nothing.

I went through the comments section and it appears they have deleted many of the posters' suggestions that there is more to the story than what has been reported so far. Some interesting points also made by readers saying that if this had happened to an athlete, coach, etc. that AL.com would be all over it demanding answers but that since it was one of their own they want people to shut their traps.

That's not the way it works in journalism. When media members make it into the news as the story themselves, the rules aren't supposed to change. I guess it may sound heartless because this is a horrible time for this girl and her family, but AL.com needs to do its damn job and get some damn answers.

It happened 48 hours ago. I'm sure law enforcement has an open investigation.

Doc -- For as much as Natalie has been a topic of discussion on this board for the past year, mostly for the wrong reasons, no one would wish this upon her.
However -- and I might sound like a dick for pointing this out -- the plagiarism, the way she handled it and then getting married to a guy with a questionable record after they were dating less than six months all point to a girl who has a track record of making some poor decisions. Unfortunately this one has had tragic circumstances.
Even her most staunch critics would pray that she can recover and live as normal a life as possible.

I don't think that makes you a dick. I think you're just making an honest observation. As much as I understand about 75% burns, I just hope she lives. Really feel bad for her. Some people get a really shitty deal in this life for some reason.

The Hoover city reporter was one of the ones fired last month.

Did the hubby take out a million dollar insurance policy on her?

Thank you all for concentrating on what's important here and not on the other stuff, not on this thread. Wow. Burns over 75 percent of the body, that's just awful. I, too, hope she can recover and get back to some sense of normalcy but I'm not optimistic.

What would be important, that she recovers? I think that goes without saying. God forbid every post doesn't start with some kind of sentiment regarding how fast we hope she recovers.
