    Classic TV Shows - NBC.com

Looks like they've added some more modern shows. I just watched for Miami Vice and Knight Rider (the old one).

    Archie and Edith sing ...

"Mister we could use a man
    Like Herbert Hoover again."

... what were Hoover's great and lasting attributes that would spur folks like the Bunkers to want him again?

As secretary of commerce he led the construction of the Hoover Dam and the St. Lawrence Seaway.
But really it's just an expression of nostalgia. The older generation always seems to think things used to better.
Take for example the middle-aged people on this site who lament the lack of music videos on MTV.

People get nostalgic about really dumb stuff.
    1980s pop/glam/hair metal, for instance.

  6. "They good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems."
    Billy Joel

ICE COLD? My God man! Have you no heart! That beer was mean to be drank at cellar temperature. ICE COLD? You can't event taste the hops!

No no no. The truly middle aged lament the fact that music videos exist at all. In our day, we put our own images to music.;)

My hatred of MTV has everything to do with it starting the *reality* TV craze when it birthed its abortion of a show, "The Real World," in 1992. Fucking abomination television ever since. I'd rather have my eyes held open "A Clockwork Orange" style watching a continuous loop of "According to Jim" than to watch one episode of "The Real World" or its evil spawn.

Wow, that was kind of a fun rant.

I look forward to "The Walking Dead" and "Homeland," though.
