    Sure, that's every candidate.

But I can think of one in particular right now.

    (Run, Joe, run!)

These pictures all failed in projecting a fake image that the candidate wanted to portray to voters.

Can you imagine Trump participating in any of these ridiculous scenarios?

Sure, and that's his appeal! And Bernie's too.

It was originally part of Obama's appeal, though it turned out that he's a pretty conventional politician.

Even Elizabeth Warren would have been better positioned to run if the election had been sooner. She's been exposed as pretty conventional too.

You can only fake authenticity for so long. Like him or hate him, Trump is authentic.

(You're never going to see a process story in the Times, based on leaks, about how Trump is going to try and be more humorous, more authentic, and try to show his heart.)

For the record, that was completely embarrassing. I'm off her train at this point.

Isn't the irony that John Kerry actually was and is a hunting enthusiast?

And, btw, to his credit, Obama was very good at avoiding the silly photo ops. He didn't pretend to be a beer drinking regular Joe, or go duck hunting.

Hillary is terrible at this btw. Her idea of an Iowa road trip in a Secret Service "Scooby Van" with drop ins at Chipotle was a complete failure.

    Is he?

The best/worst part of Kerry's attempted authenticity campaign was that he thought fucking windsurfing and riding a $10,000 bike, in Tour de France athletic gear, helped make him look like a regular guy.

What is going to doom Hillary is what has doomed Hillary for 23 years: She's just not a likable person.

    It's unbelievable, right?

Look Clinton is smart, and she might make a great President. But, she's a terrible candidate.

Even her attempt to "show her heart" was a repeat of 2008, complete with tearing up while talking about how "hard" it is.

But, in the 2008 cycle, she didn't bring out the waterworks until after she lost in Iowa.

She literally goes down in the polls the more we see her.

When she was a Senator or Secretary of State, and plugging away at her job, her numbers soared. As soon as she becomes a candidate, her ratings plunge.

She's really not likable. She's not even "likable enough" as Obama described her, laughing to himself as he said it.

And, she really doesn't like campaigning, and it shows. That's a turnoff to voters.

It's not that Obama didn't do it, it's that it came much, much more naturally to him than it does to Hillary. Much like W vs. Gore, Obama aced the proverbial "I'd like to have a beer with him" test. That's part of Trump's appeal, too.

No one anywhere wants to have a beer with Hillary.

Politics in a nutshell - the skills needed to get elected are NOT the skills needed to govern and vice versa. It seems like a lose/lose proposition.
