As long as "equality" is the be-all end-all goal, there is no such thing as "rights." Only entitlements.

Being treated equally under the law is an entitlement?

Shame on Brown for wanting his kid to have the right to go to the same school as the white kids. I mean, what an entitled brat!

I think the trap Tony is trying to set is that if equality is the "be-all end-all" goal, that means that every citizen must be equally situated, economically, which would require entitlements.

Perhaps it's one of the hazards of doing too much copy editing, but I hate it when people spell oaf-keepers wrong.

I've long admired Hayek's views on social justice (as it's commonly understood), which is that such cannot be effected without treating at least someone unjustly.

And who is being treated unjustly?

    Well, that's unfortunate:

She'll be forgotten in a week. Anyone still giving money to the Indiana pizza parlor owners?

I think she loves her $80,000 a year government job most of all:

Meanwhile, Obama gets to continue ignoring Dred Scott. What a farce. #FreeKimDavis

"I don’t want to have this conflict. I don’t want to be in the spotlight, and I certainly don’t want to be a whipping post," Davis said. "I am no hero. I am just a person who has been transformed by the grace of God and who wants to work, be with my family."

Um, bitch, holding on to an $80,000/year job whose expressly proscribed duties you refuse to perform is not the action of someone who "wants to work."

I'd love to know more about this office.

She makes $80,000, and was previously a deputy under her mom. Her son is now a deputy. How do these jobs get filled?

I also think I heard that "five of her deputies" were issuing licenses. I believe that does not include her son, which means this little office has six deputies! What do they make? What's the overall budget for this office?
