I find it odd that he has carried over the pronunciation of Colbert as "Col-bear" to CBS when he pretty blatantly stated that Stephen Col-bear was a character he was playing and, when he arrived at CBS, he'd be going back to the real pronunciation of "Col-bert." My hunch is that CBS feared changing his brand would hurt ratings and made him keep it, but I'm fairly sure he said more than once that he was going back to Colbert and retiring the character of "Col-bear."

Shows I think look good, but I'll probably never get a chance to watch this fall:
Blind spot (will probably get canceled pretty quickly, so I'm not sure it's worth investing time)
    The Muppets (can't. wait.)
Limitless (perfect story to carry over to a serial drama)
Heroes Reborn (loved the first season, hated the second, would love to see it rebound and be good again)
    Dr. Ken (love Ken Jeong)
Life in Pieces (commercials have made me laugh)
Minority Report (another cool film concept - based on a book, of course - perfect for TV)
    Narcos (hearing great buzz already)
Quantico (FBI drama is better than local police drama)

Wasn't that a joke? I'm pretty sure it was pronounced Col-bear way back when he was doing the Dana Carvey Show like 20 years ago.

Anyone catch "Ferrell Takes the Field"? For all the hype it got when Will Ferrell played 10 positions for 10 teams during spring training, I found the show to be flat.

Not enough baseball, not enough (any?) comedy, not enough into how they pulled it off.

Would have rather seen a documentary than the mockumentary it was.

I thought it was pronounced French-style when he was on the Daily Show.
I thought the joke was frenchifying 'report' in his show title.

I think the guy is very talented, but I was never a fan of his show.

I like the looks of The Grinder, which premieres Sept. 29. It stars Rob Lowe as an actor from a family of lawyers, who goes back to the firm and decided to be a lawyer, because he played one on TV for years. Fred Savage is the little brother. It has a Lookwell feel to it, which I loved. Trailer: Watch THE GRINDER: Official Trailer from The Grinder on FOX NOW

Re: Colbert, I think the first couple shows were bumpy, especially the Clooney and Scarlett interviews. He just didn't seem very comfortable with them. Also, the band leader mugs for the camera so much that GE Smith thinks he needs to tone it down. However, the desk segments were just as strong as on The Colbert Report.

I don't put too much stock into the first few weeks. Conan was horrible at first. I watched a few of Fallon ' s first shows and just didn't think he was right for a talk show. Saw it again six months later and he was the best of the bunch.

I miss Jimmy Kimmel's first shows when they were drinking. Those were the days.

South Park doesn't have the same zing on its fastball every time out these days, but Matt and Trey brought it strong tonight.

Agree. I found the "shock" of being cut/traded - and the wooden acting the managers had to go through - stupid and off-putting. Brett Lawrie sure seemed to enjoy Ferrell being though, which was unexpected.

  11. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross have a new show coming to Netflix.
There's a short preview of it, but it reveals absolutely NOTHING.

'Mr. Show' was pure comic genius.
