Donald Trump: Come Kiss the Ring

Broadly declaring that the people Mexico sends to the U.S. are drug-addled rapists who bring crime to the country seems pretty racist, no? At the very least it's xenophobic and not at all the rhetoric of someone who can effectively manage international relations with one of our two closest neighbors. But, yeah, I'd say it's pretty racist.

 

Did he say they were drug dealers and rapists because they're Mexican? And are there not drug dealers and rapists and other criminals among illegal immigrants? Is drug traffic across the border not a problem?
Now, Trump is a big-mouthed child who says things inartfully (putting it mildly). But that statement doesn't make him a racist.

 

That statement doesn't make him a racist, I agree. But it is a racist statement and, frankly, I don't think he was being inartful. Quite the opposite, actually, I think he said it intentionally to appeal to attract a certain segment of the voting populace.

He didn't say there are drug dealers, rapists and criminals among the illegals. He said, "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists." There was no equivocation that only some illegal aliens are doing this (much like some Americans are doing all of those same things). According to Trump, illegal aliens are rapists.

 

I enjoyed Christie shutting down the bickering between Trump and Fiorina about who was the worst CEO.

 

Rubio just claimed that North Korea has a rocket that can reach the U.S.

EDIT: North Korea likely does not have the capability to hit the U.S. mainland with a nuclear ballistic missile, but South Korea believes the North does have the capability to reach the U.S. mainland with its three-stage Unha missile.

 

By the time it reached 100 miles altitude, every single square inch of North Korea, border to border, would be vaporized.

 

Jeb just said he knows one thing about his brother, "He kept us safe." Um ....

 

Ben Carson is about the only person on this stage who isn't more impressive than Trump in this debate. So I can safely assume he'll get a 5-point bump tomorrow.

 

Even better, he followed up with, "remember the rubble?"

Uh, yeah ....

We got radars and good ones. If North Korea launches a missile at us, whether the payload is nuclear bombs or bubble gum, their entire nation is cinders before it even gets out of the atmosphere .
