In reality, I suspect I used the wrong tense there, in that the money has likely already gone somewhere else. My guess is Fiorina.

Stunning doesn't even start to describe it.

Three months ago, Walker was at 25 percent in Iowa and in first by a ton. The thinking was that if Walker kept the lead, the others would focus on New Hampshire and ignore Iowa - leading to some concern about the politicos.

    Then Trump happened.

Iowa Republicans break into three blocs and they each have their candidate.

Evangelicals over 50 - Carson (was Santorum last time, Huckabee in 2008)

Angry whites, including less affluent angry whites - Trump (the irony)

Minivan moms with household incomes over 80k: Fiorina

    That's it.

Cruz and Rubio have some traction but there aren't enough other Republican voters in that state.

Walker was unable to be the champion of any of the three blocs, only that he was a Midwest candidate. What's striking is that the national polling shows 55-60% of Republican voters want Trump, Fiorina or Carson - people never elected to high political office.

Walker has a strong resume. He went to Madison saying he would change state government. He did. Yet Republicans in 2016 see him as the establishment and therefore as unelectable.

Walker's campaign performed worse to expectations than Arkansas football.

The happiest person in the world right now is Charlie Pierce, and, anyway, Walker was the choice of the billionaires and many thought he would ride out the Trump wave and start to consolidate voters and money as it came down to him and Jeb!

I just think this means it is Jeb! now.

Carly, Carson and Trump will all, eventually, wear out their welcome. You are already seeing it with Trump.

Walker is extremely popular among people who know little or nothing about him. The more they know, the less they like.

What? You mean demonizing teachers and destroying labor abuse boards wasn't enough to convince people?

I think what brought him down was the bald spot he got when he bumped his head on a sink.

The smart move now is to try and woo any Trump factions for when he inevitably falls. That's a big chunk. Carson won't get them because they would already be with Carson right now.

I don't see the Trump backers shifting to any other current or former office holders and that leaves... Fiorina.

Difference is, we'll be glad to have Walker back. Bielema? Never.

Perhaps or perhaps his suggestion to build a wall along the Canadian boarder caused his campaign to, well, hit a wall ...

If only he had actually suggested that.
