Slut shaming in the Buffalo News?

    I think it's becoming more common when the accused is a famous and powerful person who could otherwise get the case kicked. As the most famous example, the Winston case would have stayed buried forever if the accuser didn't have her own lawyer.

    He had the evidence bag with him, and laid it out on the table for the press to photograph.

    In a high-profile case like this? Yes. As well they should.

    Fair enough. It struck me as odd, but if it's something typical, then that's simply due to my lack of knowledge. The rationale makes sense as well. Thanks.

    From the Buffalo News story, not about the evidence bag per se but about the whole case:

    Authorities also were expected to question an off-duty Buffalo Police lieutenant who was acting as Kane’s chauffeur on the night of the incident.

    Yeah this is a totally level playing field here.

    I'm not sure I follow.

    Wouldn't the allegation be that Patrick Kane's people were "unhappy with the results" of DNA testing, and thus most likely to tamper with the evidence?

    Anyway, it seems like quite a risk to take, when a defense of consensual sex is perfectly viable, and when the lack of DNA evidence doesn't necessarily mean that a rape didn't occur.

    How would you clean someone's DNA out of a rape kit anyway?

    Is it possible that the woman lives with her parents, and some lackey sent the evidence there by mistake? In other words, some kind of processing error? That seems more likely than a wrapped fish message.

    Cambria says a "mixture of DNA" from males was found below the victims waist. None of it was from Patrick Kane.

    =====

    Cambria's allegation is that the accuser and her attorney didn't like that and created an alternate explanation.

    I don't think they know where the rape kit is. Only the evidence bag, ripped and empty, was left with the mother.

    And, you may not be able to "clean someone's DNA out of a rape kit," but you sure as hell can make sure it's inadmissible.
