Stephen Strasburg's last 13 starts: 1.76 ERA, 110 K, 12 BB, and probably a lot of other, more geeky stats that show he was great.

Good thing the rest of the team was dogshit.

Love that the playoffs have the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Cubs. First time ever, I think, being that it's the first time the Mets and Cubs have been in the playoffs in the same year.

Well, he was dogshit early, as well.

I don't disagree. I should have said "Good thing the rest of the team was dogshit in the second half."

That subject came to mind to me too, and I agree, it's an interesting argument. Rules on things were quite a bit different back then. Were the few Orioles turned Highlanders technically free agents or were they assigned to the New York team, for instance?

The Yankees have never really said that they originally came from Baltimore. Come to think of it, the whole history of that Baltimore team is a fun history to read. Imagine you're a Baltimore fan who shows up to a game in July 1902 only to find out the team is forfeiting because they only have four players remaining.

I love this time of year, the playoffs getting ready. While a WC game might be sudden, its great theater for the fans, like me. I don't want the playoffs dragging into mid-Nov. One game is awesome (see Giants/Royals '14).

I love that the Mets, Cubs, Pirates, Royals and Jays are in (I could do without Dodgers and Yankees). Cards getting in again is amazing; are they going to fill the Giants' odd-year spot again?

As for the Rangers, Astros, Angels cliff-hanger, well I'd love to see Correa burst even brighter but I also enjoy Trout.

If things play out right, you might add the Angels to the big market mix.

Sale just passed Ed Walsh (1908) for most White Sox strikeouts in a season, 270 to 269.

    Dick predicted this would happen.

Man, Pillar just made a serious dive. Superman just blushed.
