That's a dead letter. The Supreme Court has decreed that the right isn't conditional upon militia involvement. That clause simply explains why the right exists.

Dick beat me to it and said it better than I probably would have.

    Why not?

And, btw, wouldn't the Speaker of the House have the right to stand up and call the President names during the State of the Union?

In your example, speech isn't being denied at all.

Funny that some folks are willing to give up some of their perceived Constitutional rights to help protect against people flying planes into building and planting bombs.

But the line is drawn when American citizens go into schools and shoot innocent kids. You just can't figure a workaround to possibly deal with that. Sorry. Next issue.

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Terrorism isn't an issue.

    Whatever, Dred Scott.

Lol. Nice that you have no original thoughts on the matter.

But you're shocked that folks would find it unreasonable to impose new regulations on gun ownership.

Who cares about the Speaker of the House? Why can't I, United States citizen vested with free speech rights, walk behind Obama during the State of the Union address with a sign that says, "This country was a better place when n#*#*s like you were getting whipped by their masters"? Why is my speech being restricted?

Dred Scott was overturned by a Constitutional amendment.

If you could stand there, you could shout it.

You could shout it from your seat in the gallery if your Congressman got you a ticket, and you would face no legal jeopardy.
