Mass shooting on campus in Oregon

Half the quarterbacks in the NFL would be shot by their fans.

 

Well, as -- I believe -- you've pointed out, we really have two problems, and they're only related tangentially.

The problem that gets the most attention is "mass shootings". White people get really upset when other white people get shot.

While mass shootings are tragic, and shocking, the victims of mass shootings make up a small fraction of the victims of gun violence.

The other problem is street/drug/gang violence.

I suppose we could also list domestic violence and suicide as additional problems.

But, most of the proposals to reduce gun violence will do very little to stop any of these problems, but will add additional restrictions to law abiding citizens.

The fact is that Stop, Question, and Frisk was the most effective measure in reducing gun violence that America has seen in the last quarter century, and it's under attack.

Aggressive police tactics, and incarcerating criminals led to a big drop in gun violence.

 

Philadelphia and Oakland don't make up half the league.

 

White people were upset about the Charleston shooting, as well. It's less about race than it is about place.

 

Yeah, but they were killed because they were Christian, not because they were black!

 

You should go to an NFL game sometime, anywhere. I don't think you know how out of control they've gotten.

Anyway, I think we are pretty safe that the NFL isn't going to allow concealed-carry at games.

 

And the street/drug gang violence you mention is a pretty big dagger to the idea that gun saturation prevents gun violence.

 

Is this sort of like how Congress is full of people who think anyone should be able to carry any gun they want anywhere they want, but works in a police enforced gun free zone so that no nutcase can come in and shoot the place up?

 

That's because it's ... wait for it ... a violation of our constitutional rights.

 

How is that any more hypocritical that any gun control advocate that has armed security?

 

Also, Stop, Question and Frisk! Haven't heard that particular term before. When did they rebrand?
