This is absolutely the unlikeliest conclusion I ever would have thought of. Setting yourself on fire? Why?

Entitlements? That's reaching. What if it's as simple as 1) they were drinking, 2) they were fighting and she lost control of the car and wrecked it, 3) they panicked and in their angry/stunned/stuporous state, hatched a cover plan to make the wreck look more serious than it was (whether in a bid for insurance money, to avoid possible police/DUI risk or simply to heighten drama so as to divert attention from the dumb banality of their predicament). And then dumb turned flat-out tragic. This woman isn't a immolator -- she's a fighter. No way she meant to harm herself, even if you could argue she was doing herself plenty of harm long before she clicked that fire-starting wand.

    An idiotic conversation.

She bought the gasoline and lighter several minutes before the fire was reported. It seems like there was a plan to do something. How the purchases didn't make the husband suspicious is a bit odd.

    What does this even mean?

Charges or not, I hope she recovers. I can only imagine the future quality of life for her.

People who hired her to an unadvertised position, etc.

Why don't Asian-Americans set themselves on fire?

People find themselves doing incredibly stupid things all the time. Whether it's the result of an addiction, panic, fear, desire, being under the influence, etc.

I have done incredibly stupid things in my life. It's hard to look back and fathom why I thought they were good ideas. And most of those were when I was sober.

A lot of us could have threads written about our dark moments if they made it to the police blotter.

Is it plagiarism if she lifted the script of a Grisham novel and set her on car on fire in the South for a nefarious purpose?
