What policy makes people successful? Why does that policy make people successful?

It's capitalism. Competition. Someone must lose. I mean, that's the way the American game is played. That's a fact, not an opinion, and we have 200+ years of history to prove that. If, say, every person in America equally valued education and made all the "right" choices, some people would still lose and, guess what? There'd be new bullshit explanations from the winners as to why they won and why they should keep winning. There always will be.

Collectively, black America hasn't been, metaphorically speaking, off the canvas for more than a few seconds before getting another uppercross to the jaw. There are a variety of reasons for that. It doesn't preclude individual success -- especially in sports and the arts, where talent is prioritized over networking - but, as a whole, black America is the segment of population that loses the most often in the worst ways.

Well you said "That's a policy failure."
    Which policy failed?

I heard a guy explain it this way in a Chick-fil-a this way:

Democrats give things to people. That's why they vote Democrat.

Well, slavery and Jim Crow, to begin with.

Yes, the disintegration of the African-American nuclear family goes almost all the way back to slavery, when families were broken up and sold to make a buck.

Don't know why these black folks are taking so long to get past that.

Well those policies have ended. So the ones in place now should be successful.

    Someone? Sure.

Many, many someones? No. Not without someone else losing what that someone once had.

And, in my experience, good luck with the second someone suddenly losing. That someone isn't about to lose, even if he deserves to.

    OK. Why aren't they then?
