I'm sure there are people like that.

I'm also sure there are a lot of selfish assholes.

Do we consider it desirable to have African-Americans playing cb, wr and pg? Do they NFL and NBA tell them to be less African-American?

I think that some people consider it a problem that white athletes are allegedly stereotyped before they have an opportunity to compete at those positions, as early as youth sports. I think it's been written about considerably.

Do I think it's desirable as presently constituted? Probably not, if you held a gun to my head.

I'm more concerned, however, about the fact that the black population as a whole lags behind educationally and economically than I am about the few dozen white kids out of a job in the NFL and NBA due to possible institutional discrimination.

What about the Asian kids that don't get into the colleges that already have a lot of Asian kids? Do those colleges not consider them desireable?

That article was pretty useless. It doesn't get into how many black males are qualified to apply to med school.

But if African American male youth werent deluded into thinking that entertainement and sports were the best avenues towards success and that it wasnt their birthright to be the majority in the major pro sports, society would be better off. And if you are a conspiracy theorist, you can argue that whites have pushed blacks into sports and entertainment to dellude black youth inentionally. Keeping them unprepared for management and professions. Other ethnic grups used sports and entertainment as stepping stones towards success, but once they became 1st and 2nd generation Americans, sports and entertainment stopped being s primary vehicle towards middle class status. Irish, Italians and Jews went into boxing, Jews were heavily into early basketball.

I remember John Thompson pontificating many years ago abou the influx of Europeans and Africans in basketball taking scholarships and jobs away from African Americans.

Unless the Nats hire Dusty, next year could be the first in a long time without any African-American managers in MLB:

Definitely not, from diversity spreadsheet outlook.

They'll have to settle for a "safety" school like Emory or something.

Is that a successful policy? Kids that deserve to be accepted to a school are not due to a diversity spreadsheet outlook?

It might, in fact, be unconstitutional. No?
