That's not true at all. Turn on Fox News the next time it snows.

Not many people care about what happens to some atoll in the Pacific, or even what happens to Kiribati or Tuvalu. When climate change really starts affecting nice beach property in southern Florida or the Hamptons, you might see the both sides really give a crap, which they don't do know.

Heck, climate change isn't stopping Naomi Klein from making some nice change and living a glamorous life.

And, I'm not sure we should care too much about a few low lying Islands.

Sure, in the recorded history of the earth, no low lying island has ever gone under, so that would be alarming. That comes with the caveat that earlier examples of low lying islands that may gave gone under weren't always recorded.

The fact that some climate change evangelists appear to be giant hypocrites is an issue too. I think the public is smart enough to know that we're going to be looking at a two tiered system, where 99% of us will be asked to lower our energy consumption, while our ruling elite will continue to jet around on private planes, and cool multiple mega homes to 68 degrees.

If you're going to found a religion, you might try living by its principles.

That's a pretty big caveat, don't you think? Especially since it is the case, as I understand it, that Atlantic hurricanes that make landfall are the exception rather than the rule. Could well be the case that there were lots of hurricanes out there back then that simply weren't noticed.
