Cool story, irrelevant to this situation.

Yeah totally irrelevant. Kid didn't want his phone taken so he assaults teacher. Girl doesn't want to not be allowed to use her phone and refuses to abide by class rules. So she is assaulted by cop. Yeah completely different.

She sure looked ready to assault the teacher. I guess you can justify any assault by your reasoning.

There is a thread on why Asian-Americans are so successful, which included a discussion on why African-Americans aren't. Perfect illustration here.

Yeah I said it was the same exact thing. "Their" is no difference.

    Because of white cops?

Yeah? You just gonna send her an email? A text? What if she shows up and wants to come to class? Are we back with the talking and the soft touch bit? So let's get a restraining order. And how are those things enforced?

At some point, if she chooses to stay on this path, there's going to be a laying on of hands. Or, we could not do that, because it wouldn't be objectively reasonable, and simply shut down the school.

Did all that happen? That's a lot of assumptions. Why would we ever try something like just in case all that happens. Fuck it, throw her around and show her who the boss is.

Exactly. Some people here seem to have no concept of how classroom discipline works or why it is necessary.

Let's turn it around. How long should a sullen, disobedient (but not physically-threatening) teenager get to sit before it becomes legal to knock the shit out of her? If this is the standard there's got to be an optimal time, right?

Is the fact that she was not a danger to anyone not the point here?

No. The fact that she was preventing EVERY OTHER STUDENT from getting an education that period is the point. She can be a sullen disrespectful asshole all she wants at home. In school where her behavior impacts many others she needs to straighten up and fly right.

Kids like this act this way because they can.

Put her in a time machine back in Catholic school and let the nuns take care of this. Would happen once - and only once.
