Well, if she had brandished a weapon that would have justified an even more violent response. She would have had to become aggressive in some way, such as taking a swing at the officer or someone else around her, to justify this kind of response. That's what it would take.

But you rightfully mention the size difference - and we have the gender and presumably a training difference - which to me suggests that even in such a circumstance, the officer should have been able to handle it without this kind of response.

I get what you're saying about video not always being flattering or that there are things that become clear when you have another angle on or that additional information might explain a situation.

That said, we've got a pretty good view of this thing from the multiple angles and what I see is that the situation escalates incredibly quickly once he puts his hands on her, to the point that she did not have time to resist in any meaningful way that would've justified this response.

Everything leading up to his putting his hands on her shows that she's passively sitting there. She appears to be ignoring him. You don't hear her, although you can hear his voice in one of the videos. He's moving things around clearing space for what's about to occur. Then he puts his hands on her and an instant later he's lifting her up in the desk and dropping her backward.

I don't know what you're arguing with me about. Pretty sure we agree that physical removal from the classroom is likely to have been warranted.

It's when he slams her down to the floor and discus-throws her 10 feet toward the door that he loses me.

What empty-hand control soft technique should he have used? I think we can agree that it was empty-hand physical contact, since we don't see a baton, taser or other weapon in his hand.

Was asking. I actually wasn't sure you agreed that physical removal from the classroom was warranted. Some people say it wasn't.

Is he lifting the desk, or is she just flailing and the law of gravity takes over? I assume SJ CSI has the answer.

SJ CSI would still be trying to figure out if Col. Mustard used the candlestick in the library.

So, if I understand this right, the student was asked to leave the classroom multiple times and did not. Well, in my eyes, that takes her from student to disrespecting little bitch at that point and there's no empathy or sympathy from me for whatever happens to her next. God damn, is it is so fucking hard to follow protocol and directions?

You can argue the use/degree of force all you want. But, regardless, now there's a guy out of work, perhaps a provider for a family, all because some idiot teenager felt they could disregard the rules and authority.

He's out of work because he brutally assaulted a teen-age girl in front of a class full of kids.

Most places have a $5 or $10 minimum to use cards.

The teacher's right to make classroom rules and other students' rights to an environment conducive to learning does not trump my constitutional right to free speech with my cell phone.
