You'd think the state police, backed by the National Guard, could order parking lots to be blocked off if their use would lead to excessive traffic blockages which would place public safety in jeopardy. Since all the affected freeways feed into routes to every section of the metro area, it shouldn't be hard to demonstrate the public safety consequences.

The Braves are a MLB franchise. They have hundreds of millions in their cash box. Force them to pay the full bill for the pedestrian bridge or else block off the parking lots to hold down crowds to 10,000 a game or so.

They'll dig up the money to build that bridge in a big hurry. Just put a gun to their heads.

Star, be real. If anyone looks into this deal, every pol in Cobb County is headed for the federal pen. They'll be the last ones to complain.

You'd think the Braves would take a look at the Rays and how stadium accessibility is one of the major factors in fucking up their attendance.

Ho Lee Fuk. Southwinds' pic is ridiculous.

What's Atlanta got to offer to make sitting in a I-285 traffic jam for hour + every afternoon worth it? And I say this as the son of an Atlanta native, and as a Braves fan.

I guess the only real response to your question is jobs. The majority of that red you see in Southwind's map is people making their commute out of Atlanta to go back to their suburban homes outside of the perimeter.

The frosted orange (FOs, for the locals) at the Varsity are pretty good, too.

When I lived in St. Pete, I thought accessibility couldn't have been better. Aren't the major factors still the fact that Tampa residents can't be bothered to cross the bay and the perception (mostly reality) that the ballpark sucks?

I think the Rays suffer from an extreme form of the choke point problem. All it takes is one wreck on the bridge to make getting to the game on time from Hillsborough County impossible.

The crossing the bay issue was what I was thinking of in terms of accessibility. And I had said "one of the major factors, because the stadium's suckability was another factor, but I was trying to be kind.

I used to live in Doraville.

Wasn't much, but it was home.
