I found this interactive timeline from The Maneater useful in getting a sense of how things have come to this point, thought others might as well:

I wonder who gets to tell the president that he needs to start packing his things? Don't see how he can remain. It may not be his fault, but you gotta start somewhere.

Faculty have to come up with something better than a two-day strike.

He's gone. No way he survives this mess.

  6. Yeah, he's toast ....
I'm sure Al and Jesse are on their way, as well, to stoke the fire.

That was helpful. It would seem a whole bunch of issues are wrapped up into this incident and the school in general has soft leadership allowing for a climate of protest on both sides.

Saw this earlier and wondered what the board would think ...

FROM READERS: MU faculty member shares stories of racism

    I'm calling bullshit on those.

Posters on another board I read complaining, without any apparent irony, that "Universities used to be bastions of free speech."

So the thinking is it's OK to smear swastikas, but not OK to protest swastikas, first amendmentwise?

    Are swastikas an anti-black thing?

The neo-Nazis seem to fit pretty comfortably in the white power movement.

You find a guy with a swastika tattooed on his forehead, I doubt he has a lot of black friends.
