Alma thinks Ben Carson is full of shit, but he was a card-carrying member of Team Jackie.

I think it's probably more disturbing if Ben actually did hit or try to hit his mother with a hammer, but I can also see where the lack of empathy associated with such psychopathic tendencies might serve him well as a surgeon.

    They aren't non-sequitors.

Athletes get scholarship "offers" every day without applying. Find me all of the stories calling out LeBron James for "fabricating" his Ohio State offer. After all, is Thad Matta the admissions dean of Ohio State?

And the bacon headlines are absolutely apt here. The media sees fit - actually, they see it as their solemn duty - to cut through the "bullshit" and the supposed "nuance" to give us the straight story. Bacon is in the same category as cigarettes! But when Ben Carson cuts through the bullshit, and doesn't give us the blow-by-blow of what was reasonably construed as an offer to attend West Point, they collectively lose their shit, demanding every last detail to be precisely included.

Add Thad Matta to the list.

At least when most people try to equivocate they manage to find things that are analogous.

    How is it not analogous?

Just asking questions, man. Or is that only SOP when one is wondering why black people aren't successful?

    The New Republic on Jackie:

It’s a massive leap in logic to move from a reasonable journalistic critique of Erdely’s reporting and disclosure practices to writing, as former George journalist Richard Bradley does in his blog post, “I’m not convinced that this gang rape actually happened.” It is symptomatic of exactly the patterns of incredulity and easy dismissal of rape accusations that keep many assaulted women and men from ever bringing their stories to authorities or to the public.

The New Republic on Ben Carson:

That all likely changes now that Carson has confessed to fabricating a seminal story about having declined admission to West Point in his youth.

Riffing on "Good Will Hunting," though I think it was a wrench. Great line, great movie.

Don't really care that you think it originated with another Republican. The real story is the difference in how the media is treating this story vs. how they treated the many, many more similar stories regarding Obama.
