"Do something." That's solid public policy.

Here's a nickel's worth of analysis: Most Americans from all political stripes don't want us to do anything if it means making sacrifices.

It will be interesting to see what Putin eventually does because the plane bombing is essentially biting the hand that feeds you.

Frum tweeted the same thing basically, and got dragged over the Twitter coals of outrage and disdain. Even the Paris Review Web editor said Atlantic brass should fire him.

Reports that one of the gunman was registered as a refuge in Greece.

Europe is going to explode in anti-Muslim/refugee sentiment.

I'm a fairly cynical person too, but if I ever became this distrustful of humanity I don't think I could stay emotionally healthy.

What the hell does this mean ...are you suggesting that Putin is the hand that feeds ISIS?

We're experts in that game. We fed the mujahideen for many years before they eventually bit the hand that fed them. Yesterday's friend is today's enemy is tomorrow's friend is the day after tomorrow's enemy.

Sure, that's geopolitics. Dangerous game. But ISIS has no state affiliation, so if they're going to attack whoever is convenient, including those indirectly or directly tied to their funding, then maybe at some point, the powers that be will put aside their differences and use their significant resources to fight the growing threat of Islamic extremism.
