Not buying it. Not even the dumbest terrorist decides to subject himself to multi-agency screenings, interviews and a two-year wait so they can get into a country to cause trouble. And wasting all of this energy on that ridiculous possibility is taking our collective eye off the ball.

What about the tale of the Good Samaritan? Does that work better for you?

I think we also have to realize that, worldwide, Islam has become more radical (doctrinal) since 1965.

And, with the propaganda, and recruitment measures, aided by social media, which wasn't around in 1965, we don't just have to worry about the adults we bring in. We have to worry about the chances their kids will become radicalized.

We've seen this a number of times already.

Are we really that much better at "integrating" Muslims into our society than Europe? It seems to me we've seen a bunch of alienated 2nd generation Muslim immigrants turn to radical (doctrinal) Islam.

Are the chances of them not being radicalized better if they stay huddled for years in some fenced compound or sent back home to fend for themselves?

    It fails on several levels.

The Samaritan helping a Jew is sort of the reverse of what's happening now. Jews are targets of radical Islam.

To see a Muslim protect a Jew today would be a nice story.

Secondly, the Samaritan helps the wounded/injured/robbed traveller. He treats him, gets him to an inn, and pays his bill.

But, he doesn't take him home with him!

The traveler goes back to his own home.

Get 5 lawyers in a room and you'll have 6 opinions.

How about they get welcomed into beautiful, prosperous, Muslim nations like Saudi, Jordan, UAE?

How about the world works together to make it safe for them to go home?

How about the young, military aged, men go back and fight for their country?

They really don't need to come here. We're really far away. We have a very different culture, which might not be a good fit for them. And, if they come here, they will likely never go home.

I wonder about this, too, especially when posts surface that resemble the aforementioned Jack Ryan movie plot more than reality.

With other people who are interested, sure. And those are usually former journalists, and some lawyers. I'm a journalist at heart, not an advocate. I enjoy current events, whether it's the NFL wild car race or the fallout from the Paris terrorist attacks. On Facebook, if I post about politics at all, it's mostly horse race stuff, not supporting a candidate or position.

And although I am one of the people who caused political threads to be banned, according to an esteemed fellow poster, I'm mostly hit and miss even here on these "political" threads here, especially the purely political, off-season threads. Like I said, I'm more of a current events junkie. When I'm active on a thread, I'm really active. But there are many I don't have knowledge or interest in.

    Sigh.

    So literal!

I suppose Jesus would have to give examples of being welcoming to all kinds of people who are generally ostracized by their communities to make it seem like it's the Christian thing to do. I wonder if any of that stuff is in the Bible.

Mrs Whitman is as bleeding heart as they come, and she wonders this, too.
