Remember that the parable was offered in response to the question, "Who is my brother?" If Jesus made the traveler a Jew, it becomes a "You gotta take care of your own" kind of scold. Ambiguity re: the traveler leads to a far different message.

Well, 9-11 did resemble the end of a previously-written Tom Clancy book.

I guess I use it for the opposite purpose. Those viewpoints serve as a point of ridicule.

For example, back at the start of this thread (if anyone dares to plumb those depths), you had people who were CONVINCED the whole attack was planned and executed by outsiders, and you had people who were CONVINCED the whole attack was planned and executed by locals.

Not too many were open to the possibility of some combination. That one-dimensionality of thought guides 90-95 percent of discussions here. Point of ridicule.

You see the same level ridiculousness on NFL or "How to write a gamer" threads.

I wonder how the controversial sideline vs. press box argument breaks down on party lines.

Are the guys and gals who brave the elements on the sideline and risk danger from collisions the boostrapping conservatives and the press box denizens needing someone else to house and feed them the big-government libs?

The beauty of this speech was that within hours of of these clueless utterances there was a suicide bombing done by a 12-year-old girl and the instance in Paris with the woman detonating a bomb vest in the Wednesday morning raid.
