Exactly. It should be a place to bounce ideas around and learn from other viewpoints. The problem comes in when people seize on the minor misstep/typo to show how enlightened they are or just have their mind made up and try to slap people down. That's not getting us anywhere.

Answer to number two, we don't know, but there are plenty of message board Biblical scholars who'll try to guess.

    They are right.

I don't see that as a "political" statement. I see it as a statement about humanity.

I was driving back from the Cape today (golf date, retirement has its privileges), and this came to me. The first direct ancestor in my family who lived on this continent was Peter Gee, a fisherman who arrived in Boston somewhere between 1640-1650 and who is buried in the Old Granary cemetery in downtown Boston. This means it is almost certain that some of my ancestors spent time bitching that the ancestors of other board members should've been kept the hell out of America. And of course, I'm sure the Wampanoags, not without reason, bitched about the likes of the Gees. Fear and hatred of all the people who want to come here by those who already got here is the most American trait of them all. Instead of E Pluribus Unum, the motto ought to be "Pull Up the Gangplank, I'm Aboard."

Ben Carson just compared Syrian refugees to rabid dogs.

    No, I am not kidding.

Didn't you get the memo? PMs stay private! :) How these guys (Carson, Trump) can be that stupid is beyond me. Sure, think that if you wish. But if you're running for president, might want to think before you speak.

What's dumber than exchanging PMs with Baron? :)
