God forbid the representatives do what the majority of the people representing them want. Of ALL the posts in the running (thousands upon thousands over the years), this may be THE MOST indicative of the mind of the modern American liberal.

The entire point of representative democracy is to elect people who can be trusted to go against the raw will of the people. This is fifth-grade civics.

 

And to be smart enough to think like leaders, not like a pack of Walmart shoppers.

 

You guys have to remember you don't live in the real world.

 

I'm not sure what that has to do with representative democracy and why we use it rather than direct democracy, but OK?

 

I shudder to think what the folks of Idaho, Kansas, Alabama or Oklahoma would allow if their true desires could be met by their representatives.
