That might be the end game, I suppose. Compared to Hitler, Ceaucescu looked reserved and laid back.

The Fiorina boomlet is long past done. Bush is dead in the water, and might as well drop out.

The establishment doesn't consider Cruz to be a member. If they want to stop Trump, they better line up behind Rubio:

Yeah, but I keep reading this morning that Trump is finished over the Muslim registration comments. People are shocked and outraged.

Won't matter to his base. These are the people who cheered the Arizona "brown people need to carry papers at all times" law. Shitting on minorities is a feature, not a bug.

At some point polling is going to replace actual voting right?

Trump wants to win, that's all he's focused on. For him it's not about governing just winning so he has no reason to be honest, just to pander.

He thinks it's about ratings. He's just a game show host.

Convinced if he wins the presidency he's going to play Never Gonna Give You Up at his inauguration. He's going for the most elaborate Rick Roll of all time. And I admire him for it.

"Asked later, as he signed autographs, how such a database would be different from Jews having to register in Nazi Germany, Mr. Trump repeatedly said, “You tell me,” until he stopped responding to the question.”

His supporters will see this as him sticking it to the media, and telling it like it is.

Let's assume this is remains a pretend campaign.

What does he do to bail at some point, assuming he doesn't actually want anything to do with the presidency? How does he get himself out?

Oh, I'm pretty sure he's caught the fever bad, Dick. My guess is that if the Republican voters of some state have the temerity not to give him a first place finish, he will 1. Blast them as Latino Muslim terrorist losers 2. Take his ball and go home.

That's a fascinating question and I have no clue what the answer is. In theory he could probably just randomly move really far left on a lot of positions to alienate Republican voters. I assume that would do the trick. Some signaling that he really, really, really isn't one of them.

(And for the record, I don't think this is a pretend campaign. It might be, I guess, but that's not my operating assumption.)
