He knows what they're asking, and he won't deny/disavow it. He owns it.

Why the fuck should this pumping gasbag get the benefit of the doubt on ANYTHING?

He made his name bamboozling, bullshitting and bulldozing people and is proud as hell of it.

Not that this is going to penetrate the voices in your head, but I actually listen to what people say. And Trump also doesn't back down from the stupid things he says, and he's right when he said this:

    He didn't suggest it.

To give Trump ANY of the benefit of the doubt on this stuff because "he dosen't appear to be paying attention" would be precisely the same thing if a Faux Fascist Noise reporter asked Obama, "There have been reports that as a Kenyan Militant Mooslim, you intend to herd all white Christians into concentration camps," and a distracted/disinterested Obama said, "Oh yeah I think we'd definitely plan to do that." Then getting all huffy and indignant when the media reports he had agreed to it.

    The SAME goddamn thing.

By the way: Every. Single. Fucking. Thing. Trump. Says. Is. A. Lie.

It's really simple. If you don't want people to erroneously believe you would implement a national database for Muslims, don't answer "Absolutely!" when asked if you would implement a national database for Muslims.

Making excuses for him is almost as pathetic as him saying it in the first place. The man is running to become leader of the free world - it's not too much to ask that he pay attention when people are asking him substantive policy questions.

He should pay attention, but he didn't. He was pretty preoccupied signing all of those autographs, so he went with his boilerplate, idiotic answers. That's why getting all riled up about this made-up policy of his is dumb. There are plenty of other stupid things he actually supports to criticize him on.

If he comes out and says, "I want Muslims to register into a database and I want them to wear badges," have at it, but this is a pretty good example, as it stands, of a quote taken out of context.

Guess you can't believe pronouns now without photographs and a police report to back them up. Otherwise it's a false flag and yellow journalism.

The proposition was put to him, several times, and he didn't disavow it.
Therefore he owns it. No benefit of any doubt whatsoever.

Well, it only took a week for this site to make me lose all faith in humanity. That feels about right...

"Guys, he didn't put forth the policy. He said absolutely in response to a question about it, then was given multiple chances to deny it and repeatedly refused to do so. This is an incredibly important distinction!"

    Mother of fucking god.

I'm pretty inoculated to the usual political drivel.
