So if they can wait 18-24 months, then why are you saying this something so urgent that we must put our country at risk?

Where did I say that? Where did I say we should suspend normal procedures to let anybody in? Nowhere. You are making that up.

So you were protesting loudly when Obama stopped accepting Iraqi refugees in 2011?

I've tried this before. So have others. But let's try it again. You have this idea stuck in your head that anybody who disagrees with you must automatically support everything that Obama does or has done. That simply isn't the case.

You also have this idea that the people who disagree with you are all members of this massive group that shares all the same ideas and principles. You would have the massive part correct, but we're not all on the same page, Tony. Just because you can't see past your party line doesn't mean that is true of everybody else.

That doesn't mean there are no differences between the two situations. That does mean that some of us are capable of thinking it was wrong then and it is wrong now.

Ol' Blitz voted twice for Obama (simply because he was the best I saw in the field) but I don't think we should let another refugee into this country, from anywhere, until they are kept in a holding area or told to stay at home period while we do our homework on them Each person who comes from Mexico, Middle East, Canada, etc., to U.S. needs to be thoroughly researched. I'd encourage all nations around the globe to do likewise if someone wants to come to their country. So, I don't disagree or agree with everything Obama does but I fell this way about this issue. Sidebar ... my longtime Republican/FOX News junkie dad just arrived today for a 9-day visit with us here in Europe and he promptly offers up that he's all-in with Trump for president.

My understanding is, this is exactly what happens while they are being vetted. Does anyone read the links people post? Jesus.

Entering U.S. as refugees would be hard for terrorists - CNNPolitics.com

Refugees must undergo an 18- to 24-month screening process, minimum, that the United Nations' refugee arm oversees. And that's before individual countries even begin to consider a refugee's application and conduct their own additional interviews and background checks.

The screening process generally includes multiple interviews, background checks and an extensive cross-referencing process that tests refugee's stories against others and accounts from sources on the ground in their home country.

Throughout that process, U.N. officials and local government officials in temporary host countries like Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon look to determine the legitimacy of asylum seekers' claims and ensure that they meet the criteria of a refugee, including that they are not and have not been involved in any fighting or terrorist activities.

I bet you were *really* excited about that one when the talking points were issued for this week. It probably felt pretty good.

In 2011, there was a legitimate security breach was found in the program. The program was paused for six months, then resumed.

That is not remotely the same as what we are seeing here. If anyone finds a legitimate security breech involving Syrian refugees with terrorist intent getting into the United States, then pausing the program would be appropriate.

Correct. We have a major terror attack in Paris to consider this time.

A terrorist attack in Paris has absolutely shirt-all nothing to do with the refugee program in America.
