I've read all the links and posts on this thread (I think). Unlike a lot of posters, I actually usually do make an effort to read links, because they provide context and information. Heck, I even contribute links, which I wonder if you all read, too.

I've read at least portions of everything posted (except from o_t). :) The Atlantic piece was outstanding, and I hope most of those here have given it a look. But, damn, was it loooong.

    How about this?

You all keep pretending to hold to your paragons of viewpoints, and I'll continue to be a critical thinker who can make up my own mind and who won't pretend to go along with the politically correct just for the sake of it?

So, not shunning an entire religion based on fear is being politically correct. I'll take note.

You don't make up your own mind. You let your faith tell you what to do. You won't admit it, but you also allow your bigotry to make up your mind.

Your arrogant and incorrect assumption that those of us who disagree with you aren't thinking critically or making up our own minds is rejected as a complete load of garbage.

I hope you've written a thoughtful letter to Bill Maher to tell him how wrong he is.

No, but if he stops by here to join the conversation, I will happily tell him he is full of shit.

Thankfully, we now have a Board Conscience to help us handle these things.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

It's like our own personal Jesus. And just in time for the holidays!

    We are truly blessed.

How do those critical thinking skills work out in real life? It's not like you can deviate from the planogram.
