Reading the story about the women who were in ISIS, it seemed like the men used Islam when it fit their own needs, and made up some other rules, such as the mourning period for women, as they went along.

That's the second time you've tried to frame this as an either/or. I'm *pretty* sure you know why that's wrong. You are capable of disagreeing with me better than this.

 

I actually would say it probably has some degree of effect on everybody. Everyone's a little bit racist. That's why this whole "OMG< you called me a racist!" arguments are silly. We are a species that has racism hard-wired into our brains and fed to us through our culture. Nobody is immune. The world isn't made up of dirty racists and everyone else.
